The president of Southern Adventist University plans to retire.

Gordon Bietz will be 72 years old when he steps down in May 2016.

In his nearly two decades of leadership, the school’s enrollment and budget have doubled.

And $80 million dollars in construction projects have been completed.

Now a $28 million dollar student center is in the works. Bietz says he hopes to see the groundbreaking before he retires.

The search for his successor begins in May.
